Memories Poem by Nicolaa Gallardo

Memories

Remember how you wandered aimlessly around the mall?
The way you almost tripped over a bag of a random person sitting by the balcony?
Because your mind lingered on about that one guy.
You know, the one who drove you nuts.

Slowly, you were losing your focus because you remembered how he left you wanting more.
But, you weren't gonna beg because you were afraid you'd come off too strong and push him away.
You didn't want anyone to know that he had you hooked.
When he came on, you never wanted to go off.

How could you forget his words?
You looked at the chat box every 5 seconds just to check if he messaged back to your pathetic attempt to be chill.
Deep inside, you were screaming from ecstasy and you didn't want to show.
Why did you even try? He could probably sense your feelings.

When he backed away a bit, you were crushed.
You searched for his compliments, his words of appreciation. But nothing.
The one fantasy you had of you guys ever meeting shattered.
Pulling on a smile, you just held your head high and used your memories of the chat.
Telling everyone how he managed to make you smile and ignoring their looks of disbelief.

Then, you saw pictures of him. Pictures he tagged to your profile.
How you manage to contain yourself from exploding, I'll never know.
A smirk worked its way onto your face.
The memories flood your mind.

He has you remembering him all the time.
But does he even remember you?
