Memory Lane (The Accused) Poem by Perry Biggerstaff

Memory Lane (The Accused)

Rating: 5.0

A stumbled step on memory lane.
echoed heartaches, sorrows, pain.
Sometimes I walk more often run.
To find..avoid..the things I've done.

I stop and listen at random places.
Recall strong words and tear stained faces.
To past-tense times, I've been before
'Til I cant face them anymore.

I bow my head and run away,
escape what truth the voices say.
Deny the words...Deny my eyes.
And call each memory...falsehoods...lies.

I plow ahead, the sirens call
I stumble..flailing..failing..fall.
The road is muddied, by tears and rain.
On lifes starkest highway...memory lane.
