Men! The Society Eye Poem by Samuel Ndirangu

Men! The Society Eye

Society: Men! Express your emotions and feelings
....
Man: I am so depressed
Society: Oh, get over yourself
Man: I need help, am so stressed up
Society: Don't bother people. You're just being selfish
Man: I feel like I want to die
Society: Hey! Stop being negative about life!
Man: My life is so messed up!
Society: C'mon! Stop the pressure! Stop stressing yourself.
Man! I feel so afraid and broken
Society: Man! You're so weak. Man up!
Man: I want to scream
Society: When will you ever grow up?
Man! I feel helpless. Can someone help me please?
Society: You're a man, you'll make it. Real men fight on.
Man: (keeps crying his issues out)
Society: Damn! He's so nagging.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is about the treatment society usually gives men. Considered as 'gods, ' men are rarely allowed to cry or express feelings of pain and hurt. While society asks them to share their issues, it is hardly willing to lend them a ear or understand them.
