Mend My Heart Poem by Emo Seb

Mend My Heart

Rating: 5.0

I let my guard down and let you in
Even though my heart told me not to
The days since then have crawled by
And still I haven't forgot you
The memories you left are haunting
I'm standing here, left behind wanting
To mend my heart and catch my breath
But I've fallen apart and caught only death
But as I stood shivering in the cold
With only my own hand to hold
I found an angel, I found a friend
But my heart still has yet to mend
I try to open my heart let him in
But the door just slams shut again
The hinges are broke, the light is dead
The windows are jammed, no way to see what's ahead
No way in or out, no way to speak or swallow
My heart is shrunken, shriveled and hollow
And I'm tucked away safely in here
But what's safety if the angel's out there?
