Merlin And Vivianne Poem by Sheri Green

Merlin And Vivianne

How fickle is your woman's heart
To so closely hold my regard
Only for you to carelessly thwart
The love of this old tired bard

I had set my mind to retire
Deep in the mists of Avalon
Yet you elicited my desires
With your wiles and womanly charm

I was content just a lonely mentor
But imagination can take you far
When into the mind idle fancies do enter
Of such a coy damsel from afar

You appeared to be a lady true
Delighting in my unearthly tales
And many were the secrets I gave to you
For promises of your love so frail

But lost within an old man's dreams
I ignored the scorn within your eyes
And fell to your contrived and wicked schemes
By holding true your heartless black lies

So I followed you beyond the waterfall
Far into the the forest we strived
To lay beneath the starry nightfall
And sleepily wait for the dawn to arrive

And as I lay my head down and yawned
An evil charm you wove over me
And by the seeds of my very own wand
I lay entombed in this Hawthorn tree

It is true that the threads of our fate
Are spun by our very own hands
So I yet wait for this curse to abate
Once more a free yet lonely old man

An interesting poem, and well constructed.
