Merry Christmas Poem by Ellen Ni Bheachain

Merry Christmas

It's that time of year but different this year,
The gatherings small as Covid-19 is still here,
But that will not stop the good cheer and greetings,
As we all look forward to a better new year,
2020 has been hard and tough on us all,
Society has become wary with people all social distancing,
No hugs or handshaking,
Space between us all and no sharing of festive food eating,

What we will still have,
Is the spirit of Christmas,
With hope, joy, and love,
To spread around us all,
Good food on the day,
With rich cakes and fine drinks,
Good movies to watch,
As most will stay in,

As we reflex on the year,
With hope for the new vaccine,
To rid us of this mutating virus,
This new year may be quiet,
Yet, hope it will bring,
For next year is the solution,
A vaccine and reduction,
Of Covid-19 for everyone,

Everywhere,
Every nation,
Every religion,
Will rejoice with the introduction,
Of vaccination against Covid-19,
And life getting back to normal as we knew it,
So Happy Holidays to Everyone,
And a Very Happy and Eventful New Year 2021.

Merry Christmas
