Merry Christmas Poem by Leslie Alexis

Merry Christmas

I have no desire for gifts
This Christmas
No mistletoe kisses
No well-packed wishes
For me,
Not with the pain I see.

Everyone celebrates Christmas,
Very few put Christ in it.
It makes me want to vomit
That while some sing partridges
In a pear tree,
Kids sleep under bridges;
Love’s the absentee
In a world of gluttony
Where it’s all about: me! me! ME!

I guess we can touch God
With our touch screen I-pods
Flat screens tvs
And mp3s…
While we shut
Our heart to the needs of the poor
We spend hundreds to lift our butts
(yea, work on that) to gain some man
Who’d only leave for one that’s higher.

It’s funny how we treat others as things,
But I guess it’s no surprise in a world
Who thinks man no different from the dog,
He is nothing special,
Just the pinnacle of evolution.
Survival of the fittest is the going notion;
No wonder we celebrate the one of creation
By focusing on:
me! me! ME.

You see it all over the tv.
The world is your family…
Your neighbor, your friend.
Your really want to celebrate Christmas.
Return the unnecessary gifts, get the money,
Find the homeless and the hungry…
Clothe them. Feed them… and be merry.
