A cardinal,
on this cold, yet bright
autumn morning
rests on a birch branch
outside of my window.
I pause from my work
to watch it and
breathe in
the magnificence
of its colour.
A smile overtakes me.
The cardinal
has brought for me a message
on this day.
He tells me,
in no uncertain terms,
that
life
is beautiful.
