Mi Mejor Amiga Poem by Elizabeth Sheaffer

Mi Mejor Amiga

I watched you drive away tonight
Your tailights dim, in the fading light
It had been so long since we sat and talked
So long ago that I watched you walk
Out of my life; it had seemed so final
But tonight we experienced a revival
And now I don't want to let you go
Now, I just want you to know,
It has hit, the enormity of it all
And it causes my hope to slowly fall
I lost you once, not knowing how much
You meant to me, your voice and touch
And that beautiful smile that lights up a room
Without such friendship I am doomed
Sometimes it just takes being apart
To recognize one's depth of heart.
