Michael, My Brother Poem by Bryan Taplits

Michael, My Brother

A rumble above, the sky stretched it's clouds-
Still skinny and thin in their ways,
Arrowed lights in the sky,
yellow and blue,
Portents in the sky this shaded day.

The Tarzan flick awaited for us
So we knew that we must be quick
For it played on the TV each Saturday
And so would not brook us to be tardy or sick.

Each week we rode to Bilkers,
a store,
So our repast would be timely and sweet,
And as we watched and gaped at our TV-
We then would surely know-
that all this was worth waiting for.

We laughed and we joked,
Each having our say-
and it may have been a raining doomed sky,
But we were now settling back-
and warm now inside-
So it was always a sunny day.

And now that we ruled and completed our feat
And for 2 hours- and more years- knew of no pain
and no hurt,
I realize today that this was more than just a feat-
it was really Life's treat-
And an immortal and ever memorable dessert.
