Midnight Embers Poem by Theodore Penn

Midnight Embers

Rating: 5.0

Dreams can only hope to be true
on nights like tonight
stars fly by
filling the sky
ask one passing through
to understand what's true
Is it wrong
to have a heart that longs?
Do burntout stars ever reignite?
Are they given back their light?
Or do they just fall out of sight?
when they lose their glow
do they have someplace to go?
