Miles Inland From Hibernia's Shore Poem by Francis Duggan

Miles Inland From Hibernia's Shore

Miles inland from Hibernia's shore
By the roadway to Rathmore
I first saw the light of day
North of here and far away
From this Land by the Pacific sea
Of the gum and wattle tree
And the great gray kangaroo
And the bird known as weerloo
Often when I visualize
I can see the brown lark rise
And above the bracken as he fly
I hear him carolling in the sky
And here by the great Pacific sea
The memories remain with me
Of a place I used to know
Far away and long ago.
