Mill Lake Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Mill Lake

Mill Lake

Who was he? From where?
Ignore that, whatever,
Came here and settled
And acted like beaver.

I listened to one, said:
"He came and set a mill
Right after cut trees
And made dam on creek."

Meaning he followed the
Culture of residents,
The Native Creatures.

But also, Lady said:
"He allowed church men to
Wander in the forest,
Cut trees, make timber
And carry, build a church."

That is where invaders
Were quite different,
The Church had a secret:
"Priests washed the brains,
Divided men, women,
Divided the people
And raped the children."

I enjoy daily walk
Around this small pond,
There I look at water
And ducks and other birds
Including eagles…

Kind of nice are people,
Say hello, follow the
Path of jug as trail,
Wave a hand or bob head.

But rarely they know of
History, Creek, Lake.
