Mind Over Matter Poem by Edwina Reizer

Mind Over Matter

Mind over matter
or let the chips scatter.
Do you think I really care?

No, my loved one
not in the least.
The only thing that matters to me
is taming this wild beast.

It's taunting me.
Its beat is the start
of another day without you.

I'm like the mad hatter
in Alice's game.
I wonder if my heart
she could tame?

Oh that it were
as easy as that
I would wear that madder's hat.

But this mind of mine
is confused and lost.
And oh the heartache
it has cost.
