Miss Jones Poem by Olorunfemi Peters

Miss Jones

MISS JONES
Staring into nothingness,
My eyes find you,
Stopped in my tracks,
My heart palpates,
Everything else dulls,
I quit thinking,
Scared my eyes will give me away,
Your mien,
Your aura,
Your eyelashes,
Without a word, I know you’re my flavor,
Tender to the eyes,
Good for the heart,
As you saunter,
I’m transfixed,
What are you called?
Sapphire? Immortelle?
You pass by,
A whiff of your cologne,
Filed in memory,
Stuck on me like a second skin,
Who are you?
Will I ever get to meet you?
Goodbye stranger, hello gorgeous.
