Missing Poem by William Kofoed

Missing

Hard bright stars
in frozen black sky
pin points of color
so far away

cold wind whispers
stealing all warmth away
leaving me shivering
hollowness inside

empty is the darkness
sucking all life away
sharp pain leaving
nothing left in me

no bright dawn is coming
no light can be seen
just harsh blackness
stabbing points of light

deep plunging emptiness
falling down within me
nothing ever filling
draining all away

slow hopeless wandering
dragging heavy feet
hopeless head hanging
seeing stony ground

time endless not passing
no change can ever be
journey never ending
nowhere can ever be

empty hard longing
needing something more
lost unknowing desires
burning empty within me

no sound of laughter
joyful voices not heard
glad cries of greeting
longing now for me

burnt dry ashes
blowing in the wind
scent of death and losses
only here for me

pain never ending
aching sharp and hard
all thoughts consuming
empty husk leave

hands hanging limply downwards
cold longing to be filled
needing touch of warmness
of another hand

lonely empty wanderings
under black frozen sky
across empty landscape
through endless cold night
