Missing Sects That Were In- Poem by Carl Toothman

Took an interesting walk today
and all the cars that passed my way

seemed to be so spotlessly clean
and no, it wasn’t just a dream.

I couldn’t believe what I saw
I was annoyed by a flaw.

Something was missing, just not there.
The sky was blue so clean the air.

Everything normal you’d expect
But to my surprise, no insects!

NOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE? !

If you think that isn’t freaky
you’re just taking things too easy.

First the birds and bees, now the bugs?
Who is to blame, who are the thugs.?

Who would want to eradicate
and seal the coffin of our fate?

Rachel Carson please forgive me
I couldn’t see beyond your Seas.

Why did we make the DDT
causing so much harm to our bees?

Silent summer falls upon me.
If only we all did believe

that taking care of life comes first
in order to avoid the worst.
