Poem To Cynlee Poem by Carl Toothman

Poem To Cynlee

Cynlee, allow me just to say

to an artist, in every way,

 and I’m not exaggerating,

that you dear, are most inspiring.

I have seen and from what I’ve heard,

you love the spoken, written word.

As you can see without a doubt,

I’m not sure what this is about.

 Is it love or adoration,

 or simply a fascination,

for a woman with your talents,

causing me to lose my balance?

And so you see, I’ll have no rest.

Please, do hear what I must confess.

I’m prepared to open up my heart,

and ask if you would like to start,

exchanging words we love the most,

allowing me the chance to post,

 our heartfelt comments about life,

sharing too, our struggles and strife.

If we put our heads together

 we might create something better,

fetching lines from out of the blue,

 perhaps fascinating and new.

 Doesn’t have to be serious,

to ease the things that worry us.

 We could do the interactive,

exchanging words on how we live.

When they see how two souls can meet,

 and not surrender in defeat,

to the life we see before us,

going up in flames like a forest.

 burning because an arsonist,

 insisted that all should desist.

Do they want us to burn in hell,

hear us in anger, curse and yell?

We shouldn’t allow them to win,

setting our planet out of spin.

 I fear a great catastrophe

Not unlike those caused by armies

This time around we need not fear

as we did for many a year,

 explosions of atomic bombs

 leaving behind a dreadful calm

No, this time it will be different.

 with our collective conscience spent.

 Disasters will sneak upon us,

and strike us down without a fuss,

When you hear of water levels,

 rising high and beyond control,

 soaking shelters and our memories,

which we’ll have no chance to retrieve.

In spite of the odds against us,

this life must not be blasted into dust,

 must not drown underwater,

must not go up in flames.

 Cynlee,

This might be too time consuming,

when we instead could be dreaming,

 sitting in a lovely diner,

 creating funny one-liners
