Missing You. Poem by Dr Anuja Krishnan

Missing You.

Miss you papa, every moment my tears glide;
Down my cheeks, like a child coasting a slide!
And I know it’s your soothing voice; nice,
Deep within me that restores back, my poise!

Miss you papa, as on earth, no father,
Would ever love this way, his daughter!
So unconditionally was your affection;
So were you, my friend and companion!

When ever we had big problems to solve;
You did patiently hear to this girl, naive;
Like a saint you gave the right verdict;
Never doggedly held to your own point!

You were best to be with, as a friend;
As so light I felt floating like a cloud;
As every time made me laugh loud;
Your jokes and funny stories, weird!

A true Cancer, from head to toe,
Rough externally with a soft core,
Like a crab; would only crush any,
Who deliberately blocked his way!

Being a father of daughters two,
Cared us like his precious eyes two.
Put us to sleep well before he slept;
Crucified his all, to give us the best!

My grandmother’s lovable pet; her caring son;
My mother’s man; her trusty shoulder to lean on!
Loved so well all his siblings, more than they did;
Painstakingly helped them in each and every need!

There were days I didn’t think of you;
There were nights I didn’t cry to see you!
But missed you at every tough test I had;
To win the victory over; like I always did!

Always I wondered how I got prompt aid,
From strangers; just like the way you did;
And when things turned up my way, I knew;
It was you, who have sent those angels, new!

Don’t know how good a parent I make,
But wish to be an honest one, not fake.
Just like you were to me throughout life,
Greatest mentor of my dearest son’s life!
