Mist & Clouds Poem by Khumo Mhlanga

Mist & Clouds

Rating: 5.0

Pre-sunrise precipitation
Clouds through fingers
Things perceived real...
All vanishing - lace over eyes

That's what I thought YOU were - real!
Upset now: back then, I was gullible
Walking open-eyed into this grave
I remember how:
You sold it to me -
Sang it out loud...
Lashings of sweet promises
Strategy...

For HER sake, I hope that your kiss isn't just a means to her breasts...her thighs
I hope that your touch is true
That your candied lips & 'coacoa'd' body are hers alone.

I wish her permanence after sunrise
No more mist or clouds
