Misunderstood Poem by Elizabeth Peterson

Misunderstood

Some say you are evil
But others wonder
Maybe we're all just
Misunderstanding
But still we get offended
When we're misunderstood ourselves
Dark beauty
You have wings
Strong enough
To carry us both
Faerie friend
Won't you
(Please)
Carry me
Fly me to the moon
Where the cruel words
Cannot reach us?
We can look down at the earth
Just you and I
And remember the troubles
We used to have
We can stay there for all eternity
Dancing to the music
Of the planets and the stars
Then maybe one day
When our troubles are forgotten
We can return to Mother Earth
To see what has become of her
Then it will be our turn to laugh
Laugh at the destruction
The ruins of what had once been great
The places where
Some said you are evil
But I know that you were just
Misunderstood
