Misuse - Poem by Hasmukh Amathalal

He was lying in pool of blood
People had beaten him for good
He had tried to snatch little food
As he was hungry and tried hand in neighborhood

He was taken as thief
The beating was for brief
He was caught in dark
But it gave lots of spark

Why did he not utter a word?
He could get sympathy an d help onward
He had tried from different sources
But all had barked at him and offered curse

He was passing through lean period
He had bare minimum or nothing to avoid
The food was scarce and drink impossible
The life seemed to him as full of struggle

No doubt he had able body
But so far he had cared for nobody
He remained in his own dreamland
Totally aloof and friendless

If you have able body and will power
It must be used to full extent for cover
Earn something for self and for future use
But to work nothing and sit idle is really misuse
