Model Poem by Soumita Sarkar

Model

An ailing mother
a son with deformity
a daughter who feeds on milk
and an absconding husband
a leaking roof
torn robes
and I... a woman
alone
silent

Feel no shame
stand long
nude in hall
my contours
right on canvass
in petticoat I check
They pay me cheque
But half of the year
no work left
to pay my debt

All sympathies to such models. Nicely envisioned. Thanks for sharing
