Modern Love Poem by Katrina K R

Modern Love

our love was made for humankind
at least that is what it seems
but to understand another is a task blind
to what will become shattered dreams

rosy cheeks, butterflies, and teeth in smiles bright
is all a facade of the modern love story
for inside lies the wondering and prompts flight
from the distance formed and entrapment so boring

are we young? bored? torn? morose?
for what reason does our prosperity depend on such a coalition
wires encase the lover within the soul feeding us a dose
like a bee ravages honey, a daily mission

to absorb every crevice, to hang on so tight
has consequences when the heart broken comes back to bite
