Monday Mornings Poem by Richard Sockett

Monday Mornings

Madness ensues when the new day starts
Operation wake up begins, come on Lord stir our hearts
Now we are late on a last minute rush
Do you know where I put my hair brush?
Anxious faces search for homework not done, due in today
You run out of time, grab your bag but forget things on the way

Make up smudged hair looks like a mess
On an overcrowded broken down bus seething due to stress
Rain soaks the streets puddles drench your feet
Nobody has the time to stop and say hello, no incentive to meet and greet
Irritation of fellow commuters cuts the atmosphere like a knife
Now keep calm and carry on is a good philosophy in life
Give it your best shot and live life to the full
Show us what its like to have fun and stop Mondays from being dull
