Monitor Poem by Tsani Jones

Monitor

I look deep in your eyes
Burn your face in my weary memory
And utter a wish, a prayer
To see you in my dreams.

A kiss on the neck
Behind the ear
Where you know
Only you are supposed to.

Your eyes have waited
Just as long as mine
And your soul has cried
Aloud as long as mine...

I carve your lips again
Onto the fresh page
Tattoo them like a sign,
A hope you will recognize me.

Soon I will sleep
And I shall wake to you
You will slumber
As my heart creeps in

Knocking on your door.

The sign on my heart's gate
Is patient for your return...
I kiss your face with longing fingertips
The power fades, but the cycle continues...
