Monk In Jail Poem by Asit Kumar Sanyal

Monk In Jail

A firebrand monk in Srilanka
convicted
for threatening a woman
and put in jail for six months
Srilankan jail authority
compelled him
to wear prison uniform
but he said 'no'
Buddhist groups in Lanka
held street protest
at different parts of country
to call president's attention
he said
law is equal for all.
