Monologue And Epilogue Poem by Venkatesh Davangere

Monologue And Epilogue

Had I been salvaged my heart
not falling upon you,
If I had not walked with your hand
melted upon my hand,
If I not leaned my head on your shoulders
not to rest but to resurrect,
If I not dreamt on your lap
to restart my childhood
If not Caressed your cheeks
Nor touched and kissed your lips
not with lust but with copious love,
If I not counted stars for you
and requested moon to brighten up
your photogenic face just for me
on a full moon day just to be romantic,
Or,
if we both not met and part way
On a cursed day.
I just wonder, always wonder
How the heck of a life would I have
lived all along to this day!
am I fortunate indeed? !

Can anyone live a life without soul
bequeathed to somebody?
Well! I did. A void life.
Nay!
Don't ever ask how it feels,
I don't want you to feel that way
Anyway!

To you my lady,
My soul may be an abandoned property
But it is the only thing
That I inherited from this universe.
When I go back to earth
Would I be glad
That you walked in my life
For a while?
At the behest selfish reasons of mine,
Let it remain as mystery question
That I would never ever realise.
