Monster Poem by Lillie Ellis

Monster

Rating: 5.0

I know what it's like
to feel in the dark
and to not be a shining star
That monster tore you apart

It came when you were vulnerable
It came when you were cold
It made you feel alive
It made you feel at home

I know what it's like
to be in the dark
and not to be a shining star
That monster tore you apart

You shook hands with it
That was enough
Now you're in the sky
looking down at me
It took you to a place
that you didn't know was possible

I know what it's like
to be in the dark
and not to be a shining star
That monster tore you apart

I still remember that time
When you were by my side
loyal like a dog
dependent like a cat
You knew who you were

I know what it's like
to be in the dark
and not to be a shining star
That monster tore you apart

It really was a monster
but not your usual kind
You were best friends at first
But then he turned unkind
It destroyed your life
No you're gone
Never to come back
To your real home

I know what it's like
to be in the dark
and not to be a shining star
That monster tore you apart

I need to stop going back
To those memories
Before I was replaced
by the monster himself
You were a different person
With a different mind
You were special
You were once mine

I know what it's like
to be in the dark
and not to be a shining star
That monster tore you apart

I need to move on
I need to remember the real you
I need to forget the monster
That ruined so many live
I need to live

I know what it's like
to be in the dark
and not to be a shining star
That monster tore you apart
