With my thoughts and a prayer
I have more in common with a homeless man than a billionaire,
They reside on the same street that I do
And they receive the same government checks as I do too.
It's easy for me to be homeless like them
It could happen to me anywhere in just a whim,
My pension plan could go bankrupt or even get busted
Which upon my livelihood in it I have trusted.
My government check could suddenly end
No more money to me they might not ever send,
And then my medical coverage cost might raise
Daily I wonder and I fear those days.
Cost of living is getting higher and higher everyday
My taxes are getting harder to pay,
My income isn't lasting as far as it did once before
I believe at anytime I can become homeless or poor.
You never seen a billionaire standing in any help line
You never will in your lifetime,
And you will never see a billionaire knowing someone like me
But, only if I were to win the lottery.
