More on PM Justin Trudeau
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
Yesterday, I wrote a poem where I said after watching the movie, Groundhog Day,
That Labour Day could be pronounced to be Beaver Day and it being election time in Canada
Our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, could take stock of the bridges he has built during the spring and summer months
And this could be a predictor of how mild the fall and autumn months can be;

Being a Justin Trudeau supporter, I do not think that a repeat of Labour Day 2019 for Canadians
Is such a bad thing for this is the recurring theme of the movie
And in Canada, it would mean an eternal spring and summer temperature
And it would theoretically mean that Justin Trudeau is here to stay for another term
This fact being contingent on the fact that he wins the election once again;

The October 2019 issue of The Walrus has an interesting essay by Sarmishta Subramanian
Who states that there is a polarizing tendency (divisive as the Oxford Dictionary states)in Canada
But moving away from the centre, as she defines it in her head,
And I say that the divisive factor has been true of Canada and the USA ever since the beginning of politics
But curiously enough, she cites the example of Jerry Seinfeld
Who has said that people with common political ideology could have polarizing views on sports teams
And also brings up the absorbing view that feminism and abortion go hand in hand;

And at this juncture, I feel compelled to bring up the example of Missouri on the South of Canada's border
Which introduced a bill to ban abortion after 15 weeks in 2015
And despite the conservative nature of the entire discussion
For abortion is the right of every woman,
It is a reasonable limit to ban the act after the stipulated time;

Yet Missouri is a Republican state which I think is racist and conservative
But I hold feminist views and hence, I say that abortion and feminism which go together
Have to have some sort of constraint to maximise feminist ideology while keeping alive the feminine agenda
Now coming back to Justin Trudeau in this polarizing climate of politics,
In spite of the divisive views of the various people of Canada
One fact stands out and that is that he has been a very good Prime Minister
As he has a tendency to point out, says The Walrus's Alexander Tesar somewhat disparagingly;

But I say that this strategy is employed by all candidates looking for personal advancement in their career
And coming up with evidence to back this up is wise action in any field
For a resume and publications in my own field of chemical/biochemical/biomedical engineering
Or published literary and artistic work of mine is not leading me towards my goals
Of a proper set of career oriented publications and paycheques and a possible work contract;

I say that for Justin Trudeau, the polarizing aspect of Canadian voters
Makes his candidacy like talking to a jury and even staunch supporters can be dissenting
And I quote an article by Rachel Oiese in the same magazine
Where it is a discussion of Beverley McLachlin's book;

She says while it was proven in court in 1990's R vs. Keegstra
That prohibiting hate speech was a reasonable limit on freedom of expression
Beverley McLachlin was one of the 3 dissenting judges who took a more libertarian view;

I have a centrist view on this matter for I do think that rap music has misogynistic lyrics and encourages gun toting
But is foot tapping music
And I say that Justin Trudeau can be exacting and a little bit demanding
And refuses to be easily pleased with good work and equally good ideas
And in this aspect, he is reflecting the minds of the Canadian voter.
