More Or Less Poem by gershon hepner

More Or Less

When asked by critics to assess
my dear wife’s contribution
to all my poems, I confess
she counters their confusion,
removing dross like extra beats,
and adding them when needed,
because the rule of more or less
can never be exceeded,

Inspired by Vladimir Nabokov, who when asked what contribution his wife Vera had made to his work replied: “None at all.”
