Morgh E Haq Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Morgh E Haq

Morgh e Haq

Set my camp by bird's nest
I found it a great observer.

We exchanged glances
And both were suspicious…

To be safe, tied tent's ropes
To firm and large stones…

Bird and I, now neighbours
Acted wild, strange…

I felt that it was hawk or an owl;
So, named it as knew in Persian
"Morgh-e-Haq" or "Righteous! "

It is said that such bird, as night falls
Becomes most honest and caring judge.

She listens to all of stories
Of lawyers, advocates, culprits'
As must be in the court of mankind…

Was midnight when she sang
Slowly, one by one…

Some say that she sings on
"…till vomits heart's blood! "

Unsure, I spent time with my wine
In search of uniting with divine.

She broke the silence with that song
And kept on till the song became shout!

She and I seemed to be on same page
Each of us cared more than another
For mankind as well as Mother Earth.

I sneaked my head out and cried:
"My friend, allow me to join, shout."
