Morning's Herald Poem by Casey Mackay

Morning's Herald

Her hair a beautiful golden blonde,
Flowing down her back
and shining in the dawn sunlight.
Her eyes, deep and stormy grey,
Powerful and determined,
Piercing and commanding;
Yet calm, caring and wise.
She stood upon the hilltop,
Her fair head held high and proud,
The wind whipping at her simple white gown;
And she began to sing,
Her glorious notes resonating in the morning air,
Calling forth the new day.
Her sweet voice echoed through the land,
Awakening the animals
And the trees,
The rocks,
The streams,
The very Earth itself.
And then morning's herald finished her song,
And in a gust of wind, she was gone.
