Morning Song Poem by Michael J Williams

Morning Song

Each spring morn I hear little songbirds sweetly
urging the sleepy sun to wake up and warm them
and provide light so they can find material
to build their nests, lay eggs, and get on with their lives
After the sun is up and warmly greets the little birds
they flit down upon the old stone wall where someone
has spread last night's leftover popcorn for them to enjoy
as they binge watch sunrise into sunset and make
guesses as to how the day's story will turn out
