Mother Earth Cries Out Poem by Edwina Reizer

Mother Earth Cries Out

Peace, please come to me.
I am the earth,
the land and the sea.
I'm home to the animals
and the birds flying free.
I'm home to the fishes, insects
and butterflies you see.

I've tried so hard
to provide for all
but it's like my purpose has hit a wall
that's been built out of hatred,
greed and deceit
making it hard for my heart to beat.

I know I've been desecrated
many times before
by the bombs that are detonated
in times of war.
I've made my peace with you.
So, I plead for peace
to come to me.
I am the earth. This is my plea.
