Mother's State Poem by Ekwueme Kelechi

Mother's State

Crying and weeping
Is all I know best

Seeing and mourning
The dictator is back

Praying and shouting
Pleading to God

Suffering and sorrow
The people marry

Election and voting
The masses caused it

Rigging and gerrymandering
The order of the day

I hear mother calling and crying
Weeping for her children yet unborn

Segregation and tribalism
Men behind the mask

The ancient landmark
Thou art in need.
