Mountain Poem by Richie John Pais

Mountain

Need to climb mountain
That stands in front of me
No other option left
It is purpose of life

All others too have to
Everyone has a mountain

It really seems easy to me
And also to other beings
Taking a thousand steps
Is not a big deal at all

Every few steps
Majority of us fail
Every now and then
We just tremble

I see some climbing faster
Reaching zenith in no time
Why this is so I analyze
Research gives me answer

I am appalled
We are Indians
Our own government
Pulls us down always
Puts brakes on our ways
Nobody else does

Discrimination, poverty
Illiteracy, wickedness
Nepotism, corruption
Crime, communalism
Bad things affect us
Cream all the time
Only for privileged few

We move with care
Yet fail and fall
We don't complain
But get up and smile
So even mountain small
Invariably looks tall

Until I protest
Tall it will remain
I will keep on falling
Again and again
