Mountains Of Infinity Poem by Barry Middleton

Mountains Of Infinity

Rating: 5.0

no longer can I shed the pain
it is a constant mockery

surrounded by the failing soul
are ragged shadow-lands of grief

the sunset brings cruel avatars
forsaken gods and goddesses

the somnolence is like a pall
the darkest velvet of the night

then even dreams are agony
reminders of lost ecstasy

for youth can never come again
or song or breath or lover's touch

and in the final prayer I plead
a dreamless sleep to comfort me

where dismal timeless waters flow
from mountains of infinity
