Moving On Poem by Courtney Beaudry

Moving On

This isn't what I had in mind
I just don't remember what I had in mind
A sacrifice, awaiting my decline

Didn't know I tried
Coulda washed it out
But now we can't find
How to work it out

Now who's to blame
In this fail-proof scheme you've worked out
You're all the same
Now I've got pieces to re-stitch
And things waiting to be fixed
I won't let me fall
I've learned to walk
So there's no need to crawl

Waiting has no use anymore
I've cried every last tear
And watch them burn away my heart
So I won't let me down
And I won't let you come around
For my heart's taking back it's other part

Now who's to blame
In this fail-proof scheme you've worked out
You're all the same
Now I've got pieces to re-stitch
And things waiting to be fixed
I won't let me fall
I've learned to walk
So there's no need to crawl

I have let myself down, time after time
Why do I always end up back here
My wings should not be clipped
And I won't let you rip
Them off
