Moving On Alone Poem by Ray Hansell

Moving On Alone

It was love that brought us together
It will be love that brings us down
We once flew so very high
Somehow we crashed to the ground

Remember all the happy days
When fun was all we had
I look back at those joyful times
It sometimes makes me sad

I always find that it's better
To look back several years later
To analyze just what went wrong
The passing of time is the best indicator

Then I feel you're more objective
You can be truthful to yourself
You may realize you were the cause of the breakup
And it had nothing todo with anyone else

But after several years have passed
It doesn't matter who's to blame
The love by then has long been gone
As feelings are no longer the same

Life goes on like it's supposed to do
It doesn't matter who you are
Hopefully you're over her
You've found yourself a new shining star

Well-written, Ray. I have been happily married for more than 50 years, but I know I am luckier than most!

An emotional poetry expressing the pain of losing. Well written. Yes looking back and introspection is helpful. But maybe sometimes things are broken for a new beginning. Well penned. Good work.
