Mt Beauty At Night Poem by Francis Duggan

Mt Beauty At Night

The moon it is stealing through the starry sky
And in old Mt Beauty the boobook owl cry
The beautiful place with the beautiful name
Mt Beauty and beauty are one of the same
The nearest big town half an hour by car away
From moonlit Mt Beauty on the first night of May
The mountain air fresh and the sky is so clear
No polluting factory is anywhere near
To peaceful Mt Beauty on this night in the Fall
The only living sound is the shy Boobook's call
From the eucalypt wood on the higher ground
A great view of the moonlit countryside for miles around
The boobook owl calls out in the dim moonlight
In peaceful Mt Beauty the queen of the night.
