Multi-Armed Mama Poem by Marissa Oakley Browne

Multi-Armed Mama

A marvellous mama creature
With some quirky useful features;
Extra pairs of arms and hands,
A voice recorder for demands,
Eagle eyes in the back of her head,
Springs for bouncing out of bed,
Retracting rollers on her feet,
A time machine that can delete
Mistakes and tantrums from the day -
Hindsight makes it better that way.

When asked, does your toddler bite?
Does baby sleep through the night?
She has auto-reply at the ready,
So she can keep her voice steady.
She also has a built-in app
For lists, projects and mental maps.
She washes the soiled and the muddy
While conquering new fields of study.
She'd love to cut her nails, take a bath,
Remember what it is to laugh.

She has arms to burp the baby, wipe up spills,
Grow her business, pay the bills,
Fold the laundry, wash the dishes,
Fulfil her toddler's playtime wishes.
She can massage her own aches,
Play the guitar, paint aqua lakes,
And whether it's winter or summer,
There's something awesome about this mama;
She has a little voice that says, you're great!
Now it's time to celebrate -
Happy Mother's Day!
