Murderer Of The Heartless Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Murderer Of The Heartless

Crawling down
I can not breathe
my eyes bleed
my chest does not move
a gasp of air escapes my mouth
the last words I speak
no one hears
a man runs to my lifeless body
rain drops start to fall
my eyes are open, yet I can not see
my mind closed to the possibility of living
I know i'm going to die
the man opens my shirt and begins pounding my chest
you fool, go away
he clings to the determination to save me
I don't want to be saved
I brought myself here
I am a murderer
I have taken a life
his blue eyes shine through me
I know this man
he calls out my name
who is this
he pulls my body as close to his as he can
his skin touching mine
a tingle spreads through my dulled senses
you are the man who broke my heart
he repeats over and over
the response to my last words
'I love you too'
