Murderer’s Row Poem by Robert Sheridan

Murderer’s Row

The ‘27 Yankees in the House that Ruth built
Had lost the World Series in the year of lord ‘26
Then went 110 & 44 to win the series & the pennant
They batted.307; slugged.489; & scored 975 runs
At the plate were the following –
Earle Combs – CF/.356
Mark Koenig – SS/.285
Babe Ruth – RF/.356
Lou Gehrig – 1B/.373
Bob Meusel – LF/.337
Tony Lazzeri – 2B/.309
Joe Dugan – 3B/.269
& Pat Collins – C/.275
They ‘murdered’ the other team’s pitchers
& ‘murdered’ the standing baseball records
They were & will always be ‘Murderer’s Row!
