Muscle Memory Poem by John Tansey

Muscle Memory

Looking in the mirror at fifty

I am getting older
the loss of muscle mass

sink-holing the skin
with pockmarks

my sagging triceps and hamstrings
shows me so.

Ten pounds for every ten years

With such drastic loss of muscle memory,
I forget how to crawl.
