Must You Preserve? Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Must You Preserve?

A said to B that X is dead.
B said to C that X is dead.
C said to D and D to E thus.
The news of death spread like wildfire.
No one mourned but only spread.
Y, the wife and Z, the son
Wept to show that they were upset.
The poor X breathed his last
Thinking that he would be a loss,
At least to his family, wrongly.
Must you work hard to preserve yourself?
