Mutated Poem by Meghan

Mutated

the trees sprouted legs and walked their way home
I genetically engineered my heart to feel nothing:
not the raining acid or the plastic bag tides
butterflies turned to ash
and the birds glow neon in the night
mutated life inhabits and infests
this painted planet
