My Back Yard Poem by Marilyn Lott

My Back Yard

What a tremendous comfort
My back yard is to me
In summer it’s just perfect
It’s as cozy as it can be

I have a rough-board fence
For a little isolation
I can sit and read a book
Have a cook-out for recreation

My beautiful little flowers
Some delicate and some quite bold
Lift their little faces to the sky
And are so wonderful to behold

Delicious sweet restful colors
Give me such a warm pleasure
I have a flower collection
Each of them I truly treasure

Nothing makes me happier
Than to watch the little birds
Choose to nest in the birdhouse
Their comfort is well assured

I feel so very lucky
And I hold in great regard
The perfect little world
In my very own back yard!
