My Best Friend Poem by Ronit Sircar

My Best Friend

Rating: 5.0

I was sitting on a bench of rusty streets
Sitting with an unknown person
Never saw nor spoke
But the friendship suddenly evoked
It seemed a start of something new
Like the morning flowers with fresh dew
Stupid, silly and naughty like me
And I could see how happy were we
Talked of everything we could think
Told everything but neither’s eyes did wink
I got a friend who is a luminous star
I was so happy I got a best friend at last
Truth dawned and now I disparage
The friend was my soul, my mirage
